Hippo Therapy...lots of pictures ;)

This is amazing to me. Tara (not talking about myself) who is a physical therapist here in Gooding. Hippo Therapy is her thing. She found the horses. She put flyer's around town asking for volunteers and a lot of people come to help her. It takes up to five people to make it work. Here is the list of people needed someone to lead the horse, two people to hold each side of Wyatt while he rides, Connie who is the occupational therapist (who we love) and some one to hold Connie's bag of toys. So it takes a small army to do this every week. They are all so kind. I get a little choked up when we show up every week. These people are here because they want to help. They have fallen in love with my little man.Below: is a shot of Wyatt getting ready to get off the horse. The horse goes in between the ramps.
Below: Wyatt holding a ball. Riding the horse improves neurological function & sensory processing.

Here he is shooting a bean bag in the bucket.
You maybe asking why is it called hippo Therapy. The root word (hippo) in Greek means horse. Above: Wyatt leading his horse sizzler
Above: Connie getting his gear on to ride. He has to wear the helmet and a belt. So if the horse for some reason gets excited they grab the belt.
Above: This is Wyatt first time at Hippo therapy and he is not sure. Connie was trying to convince him to get on. The only way he got on the first time was with me. So we both got therapy that day:). But it only took that one time. He gets on every time by himself.
Above: This just cracks me up. They have him ride the horse back wards. It helps different muscles in his torso & legs.
Above:Here is my man working hard. Trying to stack the cones on top of each other. You can see the volunteer holding down his left hand. So he has to do it with his right.
Above: This is just truly remarkable. He is able to stretch like this with both arms out. You really can't tell what his weaker side is by this picture. I think I am going to blow this picture up. Love all of Wyatt's therapists and the volunteers that come and help.

I love all of these pictures. What a wonderful thing that all these people do to help your little man. Your post makes me teary eyed! I am so proud of Wyatt and all of his accomplishments and grateful too for all those who are in his life helping him. And honestly, who couldn't love a face like his! Looks like a lot of fun! YEE HAW!

I got to go and watch this when I was up there in September and it was so cool. He was very focused, except when the train went by:)These people are amazingly wonderful. I can see the difference that all this is doing in helping Wyatt use his weaker side and just in his overall development. He is so fortunate to have all these fantastic people(including his parents) in his life.

I am just thrilled seeing these pictures. Wyatt is just doing so well and to see all of these people helping him. Yeah, I'd get choked up, too.

This post makes me so happy for you!
