It is finally over. We have been trying to refinance our house since July and it is now December and we have finally signed the papers and have refinanced. For those that don’t know here is a little history of our refinancing.
- July 2008 we begin working with Countrywide where our loan was originally from and we begin the process of getting information together. By August we a waiting for a response back and we hear nothing. Needless to say the experience was not pleasant.
- September 2008 we begin again looking to refinance our loan. I get online fill out some survey and we get a call from Robert who is in New Jersey. I get online make sure the place is legit and they are so we start the process again. He of course says everything looks great and we should have no problem refinancing. (Should have seen that as a sign it wasn’t going to be a good experience) So we are excited and begin getting everything together.
- October 2008- The day before Halloween we get a call from Robert who tells us that it has come out of underwriting and everything looks good. So we are jazzed that the process is almost over, we thought. The next day we get a voice mail from Robert who tells us that we have a few more things to do before we can close. We of course had our house appraised and since it is a FHA loan there a certain requirements that have to be met. (Did not know this) The appraiser told Tera that we would have to paint and fix some items and I called the all knowing Robert and he said we do not have to do anything. Well back to the voice mail it tells us that we need to paint the trim, paint the down stairs bathroom, fix some corner molding on the outside of the house and put a vent above the kids upstairs bedroom. I am a little annoyed, Tera is pissed off and we live in Idaho were the temperatures are going to make it hard to paint outside. (You might have seen the pictures of Tera and the blow dryer) White Trash USA.
- November 2008- We accomplish the list of things that we were asked and the appraiser stops back by and says that we have not fixed everything on the list. His list was different than Roberts. So needless to say we are stuck in between a peeing contest. The eventually outcome was we can get around this, we can’t, we can get you another loan, we can’t get you another loan, we are back to the original loan, and you have to paint your house, paint your shed, fix a door on the shed, and repair a window and by the way if you get it done lets us know. Well thanks
- December 2008- Lucky for use we had unusually warm weather in Idaho (Thank you Global Warming) and were able to get everything done and passed the third inspection. There were still more hiccups, but we are done, we signed and the funny part is that Robert who didn’t have a clue still got paid. Isn’t life great? The one positive is that we don’t have a house payment till February. You got to love the financial market.

Thank goodess it is finally over. I told you all along that loan officers are used car salesmen and will tell you anything to get you to sign up and then when you get to financing its another story (this is from personal experience). I'm glad you, Tera and the kids survived this ordeal. It will be worth it in the end. Remember what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. LOL Love you and see you in NINE days, yippee!!! I love the new picture of the kids in front of the Christmas tree. Very nice.
God Bless America! Where else can you get such experiences and live through it? Glad it is over and you have some breathing room for your payment. Love all the pictures and can't wait to see your smiley faces and get hugs.
Drive safe.
Thank you Global Warming...ha ha!
What a mess! Glad to hear it's over. So when is a good time for you to come paint and blow dry my molding? (heehee)
